Hatton, ND

Hatton, ND. The Hatton Flyers were coached by the legendary Jim Howson. This was all before they had joined Northwood to become Hatton-Northwood Thunder. Unfortunately, he had never made a state tournament. Would anyone know what was his best team? Who is the best player he had ever had possibly?

Most likely Mike Lavin from the early 1970s. 1st team all-stater when all-state teams weren't separated by class A and B. Went on to an outstanding career at U-Mary and is in their athletic hall of fame.

Mike Lavin's younger brother dude was two-time First Team All-State in (87&88), 1988 Mr Basketball Finalist, and over 1,700 career points. Also had a good career at U-Mary (although football was arguably his better sport).

Mike's team in 1975 might have been one of Hatton's best - they lost on a last second play to Larimore in Region Championship.

Another Hatton great was John Maus. 2nd team All-State in 1994, 1st Team in 1995, and also a Mr Basketball Finalist in 95. Over 1,800 career points. His sister Lisa might be the best player in HHS history though. Tri-Miss Basketball in fall of 1995, 2,000 career points, led her team to 3rd Place at State (with #2 and #6 best players on the team out with torn ACL). She was also National Tourney MVP while leading U-Mary to NAIA National Championship four years later.
