i think peter orson is the best sophomore from south. after watching him hook up Sigurdson with a great pass in the grafton game short handed or 4 on 4 idk which one. but he looks pretty good. And that tyler sorenson kid. he is on first line JV and lights it up

First post, same day of registration, obvious inter-team info, talking about sophomore players from a single team. and at about the time high schoolers get out of practice. I wonder what school this player is from. :)

Anyways, from both the GPR-South and GFC-South games I watched, I don't believe I saw the latter, and when I saw Orson with the puck he fumbled it a lot and made big mistakes. I was more impressed with the play (in these two specific games that I've seen) of Casey Purpur from GFC, who's a freshman. Since all of GFC is young, it didn't seem like he was too nervous with the puck, and got 2 goals, including the game winner.

I've said such before, but that doesn't give one player an advantage over another. A good player comes out to play often, a great player always comes to play. From that specific game, Purpur was far more impressive than Orson, regardless of how their teams played. I hardly noticed Orson except when turnovers occured, I noticed Purpur when his name was announced.

just give it a few more game. it takes awhile for players to adjust to the game speed.

A list of a few of the other Sophomores Contributing across the state. There are many sophomores playing Varsity according to the http://www.ndhighschoolhockey.com so I just picked a couple out that are doing well.
Cole Reisenauer Dickinson 11 points
Ross Kovacs Dickinson 6 points
Brenden Gust GFC 8 points
Jake LaDouceur GFRR 7 points
Austin Riopelle Mandan 6 points
Bryce Schmitt Minot 5 points
Kyle Berg North 7 points
There are others that I missed, I apologize, it looks like quite a few underclassmen playing well at the varsity level this year, including a few freshmen like Purpur and Kusler from Century, etc....

He "niped" him? I know exactly what you are saying in that he scored, my point is the language/terminology used is what would be used by a high schooler himself. Your posts have been made regarding Orson and Sorenson of South and you watching the Bismarck South game in bismarck, which must put you on the South team and talking up your teammates, or maybe you are Orson/Sorenson....

He makes it too easy to realize that he's from the South team, or is related to a player in some way.
However, I did hear that South's goals were really nice when they got them, so that goal may have been part of it.

Sauce and Sioux4 ever-- good call... I am with you.

I watched the whole Varsity and JV games in Bismarck.

Orson is good (against his own age level) It seemed to me that sometimes he was overwhelmed with the strength of the game that it takes at the HS Varsity level.

Sorenson is a good player-- logged time in BHS game (heard that was his first experience)--he is stronger than Orson (bigger also) all those things help that. Plus Sorenson played with huguelet(Jr) and MAuch (Jr)-- both those guys skate(normally JV--i heard), they all three skate together in JV.
that helps some also.

They looked like they were playing for their lives and that impressed me, they wantt o hold onto a spot on the Varisty, I am sure.....
I know that they can replace Powers who, didn't play with any emotion or speed or strength in the BHS game. he tried a couple of moves and got sent packing. Too bad, because I thought maybe we would see a battle of a game.
Beside the JV guys from South, Groth and Hooey played well(when Hooey wasn't in the box), and that was about it. Their Def. is not having a great time, as none of them played any Varisty last yr.
the Net-- tender Kelly is not playing very focused(it seemed) he let in a goal from behind the Goal line and flung out from the corner(bounced off his skate or stick and went in on him)-- Ouch!
they need to grow up on Def. and int he Net before they move inot the New year.
Now BHS-- had a battle with MAndan on Thurs.. Fun game-- Mandan pushed them around and Kline in net ofr Mandan played sellar. 5-4 win for BHS but they knew that had played a game.... Mandan is physical and plays with emotion.
south could learn something from them--i think..
happy holidays to all

yea they have josh hooey a sophomore listed on the roster i'm not sure if he's had any varsity time but he did do well in summer hockey this year from what i heard and he also was the captain last year of the bantam A fargo team. but i dont know how good he really is i saw him get a few shifts against bismarck. when he was in he fit in fine. could be a very good player if he can make the transition from youth hockey to varsity

Does anyone have anything to post about a sophomore other than the 3 or 4 we've heard about from Fargo South? It is great that we are getting input about players on the radar to watch, albeit from the players themselves or their friends.

Anyone know how the sophomores at North, Central, Red River, etc... are doing??

kyle berg from fargo north was in the top 15 in points after the first few games. i dont kno where he stands now. jake laduecer (GFRR) looked good when i saw him play a couple times (dont quite kno points on him) seems like half the GFC roster is sophomores or freshman. and they seem to be playing pretty well

He is the third best goalie on the team.
