I heard on the radio this morning that Langdon was awarded boys team title on Monday due to a disqualification of a Carrington runner. Does anyone know the details of this?

All I've noticed is that the runner was removed from the 1600 and 3200 results and then also the 4x8 and 4x4 relays for Carrington were removed from the original results (found in the GF Herald). My only guess is that the runner exceeded the 5600 meter distance limitation that was set forth this year...if the runner had done the 1600, 3200 and both relays...he would have been sitting at 6000 meters for the day (6000 > 5600)...Now I'm not sure if that is exactly what happened...but it seems to be logical.

Looks like your logic is right. I looked over the qualifiers and the Heralds results and that is the only thing that makes sense. Too bad for the Carrington runner but it looks like a kid from Benson County gets to run this weekend.

This is a new rule? Unless there is some evidence that running that much in a day causes xyz, I think this is a stupid rule.

I'm sure there's a reason behind why they came up with this distance limitation...as a distance coach...5600 meters is ALOT for a young runners legs...especially when you think about how poor some of the track surfaces are across the state. Not every track has the special surface that is good on a person's legs/body...some are concrete/asphalt and crappy...and that can do a number on an athletes legs. I can tell you from my past...5600 meters is still alot for an athlete to do. Good surface or not...I got stress fractures in my shins from too much distance while participating in high school track.

I can't say exactly if that is a reason why the change in the distance limitation...that's a question for someone at the NDHSAA...

I agree. There are a lot of young athletes who have endured some leg problems from running long distances in competition. Stress fractures and calf muscle injuries are tough on those young athletes and usually take them many weeks to recover from.
