He ran it last year and put up good times but i think he will run the 100 and 200 and do the relays. What about the two Shane's from West Fargo?

If Mann isn't running it at state then its between Hillen (West Fargo) and Sem (Fargo North)

If he wants his best shot at an individual state championship then he will. I put him as the preseason favorite and Waha as second. Welk shouldn't be touched in the 100 and 200.

How can Mann be a favorite he didnt even go under 51 in the 400 theres not a chance he's ahead of Hillen, Sem, and Siverson Hillen went into 49 his last 3 meets, Sem went low 50's as well as Siverson I dont see Mann taking state.

How many times did Mann run the open 400 last year? Once or twice? And I don't recall seeing him in any open 400s really in the years before that. If he streches himself out I think he can be a very very good 400 runner. If he puts his mind to deciding to want to run and win the 400, I'll take him over Sem, Hillen, Siverson. This year if he runs 100 and 200 every meet and runs the 400 once or twice just to qualify he isn't going to beat their times probably. All just my personal opinion, you can't really prove anything until the season starts.

It does not make any sense to me why you think Mann will be so great this year in the 400. Hillen has qualified in the 400 since his freshman year and has consistantly dropped his times. He's coming off a great year last year running sub 50 his last 3 races. He is the only returning sprinter in class a to have ran 49's. You make it seem as though Mann would be more determined?? Coming into the season having the fastest 400 time in state, i believe Hillen will be very determined to take the state title. i happen to know hillen and believe me this kid works hard

Mann did go 50.7 at state his sophomore year when he actually concentrated on the 400, he also ran on a relay team last year that went under 3:23,and last year he went 21.93 in the 200. Depending on what he wants to concentrate on this year he is easily a threat to break 50.

I see Hillen, Sem, Siverson, and Mann all breaking 50 (if not 49) this year, honestly.

I dont see Mann breaking 50, the only reason BHS 4x4 was so good is because they had Miller and Barnes running 49 - 48 splits. yes Mann did run 50.74 but that was two years ago hes built himself up as a 100 and 200 guy i dont see him winning the 400 at state

To say bismarck's relay was only good cause of miller and barnes isn't fair to the other people on the relay. 3:22 in high school is not a 2 person effort. At the time they ran that time Miller and Barnes had prs of about 50. so to say they split 48 is unreasonable. Plus if they did both run 48s that puts Mann and the other person on the team (i think it was neumiller) at 53s...and i think they are better than that. Plus a 50.74 as a sophomore definetly shows the potential to run sub 50s as a senior. Especially when they drop their 200 time under 22.00. Plus Manns 100 pr is under 11 sec wich shows he has alot of strength which should carry over to a 400 nicely. With that being said bismarcks 4x1 and 4x2 should be the top teams in the state so im not sure how many 400s he will run. Should be interesting

mann will not touch welk in the 100 and 200 are you kidding?? & at this point in the game the fact that mann hasnt run the 400 much is insignificant. hillen siverson and sem have all been running and specializing in the 400 for a long time now and all have run low 50s (and in hillens case 49s). i see them going 1,2,3 then mann pullin up behind them

That may very well be but Mann does have over a half a second pr on all three of them in the 200 (and that speed really does matter). To say he can't keep up is pretty biased. Anyways some one to watch for bismarck would be Walth(I hope hes still a track guy). He went 53.xx last year as an 8th grader. And bismarck has the best track program in the state so he should improve drastically.

all im saying is i could see hillen droppin into low 49s to 48s this year and i just dont see mann doing that. the guys fast and will probably take 2nd in the 100 and 200 next to welk but the 400 is just a different kind of race

Nahh the 8th grader didn't run after the middle school season was over. And to run 48 you have to have darn close to 22 sec 200 speed. Not saying he can't do it (i hope he does). But sub 49 is a very elite group in ND.

You would think if he's funning that low in 8th grade they would have brought him up. and hillen's last 2 200's were 22 secs, and his splits in the 4x2 relays are always low as well. i agree that the 48 mark is an elite group but it is possible that hillen sem and siverson make that mark. not gunna hate on mann about the 400 but i see him taking 4th if he runs it at state even considering their 4x1 and 4x2 teams.

Morgan Milbrath of Minot has to be the favorite after nearly knocking off Roesler last year
