Predictions for Region 1

Postby tenacity18 » Thu Feb 17, 2011 6:59 pm

Track season is approaching fast and the question is which team in Region 1 will stand out in the early running...or in the long term???
Life's a game of inches. And the only one who is going to win in life, or any game, is the one who is willing to fight and die for that inch.

This is what I think. Girls will be close but I think MWL they don't have Kristi McCloud and that may hurt them

They have a good group of throwers with Halverson leading the way, and Wettstein will place well in hurdles. The relays won't be as good as last year but should still place alright. Also Rachel Sakry should be a high placer winner in the distance events. Losing Fuka will hurt quite a bit though. I heard McCloud say she might try to come back and run the mile, but only if her knee heals properly.

Central Cass has over 30 girls out for track this year and are returning state qualifiers in Courtney Dixon (shot put) and Paige Slemmons (sprints) and good young sprinters for the short relays. They haven't been competitive as a "team" for a long time, but maybe this year will be different.

Is this 7-12 or 9-12?

It's actually 9 - 12. The sign-ups for JH are still ongoing and they don't start practice until later.

Don't forget about Moriah Skroch, Possibly the top hurdler in the state!

Probably not in the state...but most definitely a favorite in the Region. (plus...is she 100% healthy?)

Is that really the reason? I heard her back was just really sore.

I'll have some by the end of the week...most teams are now at full strength and after this week most athletes will be participating in their main events...so it will be easier to determine the "top dogs" of the region.
