Boys - Lisbon. It won't be all that close actually. Their field events and pole vaulters will save the streak. No team is really strong or deep enough to challenge. MWL and the Illies are not deep enough. To beat Lisbon, not only will a team have to be strong on the track, they have to be strong in the field. Most forget this meet is won in the field, not the track.

Girls - MWL. Reviewing the early season results, this shouldn't be close. Looks like Lisbon is down and OG must've either graduated or have a lot of girls hurt. They had three distance aces and a sprinter who were not listed at the state indoor. Kindred and Sargent County have the ability to make some noise. Unlike the boys, the girls team race is always competitive.

Boys - I think MWL will have just enough in the field to make it close and overtake Lisbon...now it is still kind of early to tell...but that is my opinion.

Girls - MWL is the BIG FAVORITE! Oak Grove lost quite a few runners to other sports (the issue that not many region 1 schools have...girls that wanted to play soccer for Shanley instead of run track) and a few that aren't out yet but won't make to much of a difference.

For girls, Oak Grove's sprinter (Tessa Krueger) goes to West Fargo now. I'm not sure why Forness is the only distance runner of those 3 still left running. Maybe Run4Fun knows.

Don't count out Central Cass for boys... they might not win it as a team, but they'll do well. They have Jacob Mogen in the sprints, Logan McLean in the high jump and Chris Taylor in the weights. They should have some strong relays again this year as well.

And Central Cass has the same issue as Oak Grove as far as girls doing other sports... we have fastpitch softball, golf and JO volleyball that takes a lot of girls away from track.

Looks like OG will lose their best girls distance runner next year as well. Just saw that Forness is moving to Bismarck to be principal at Shiloh.

Yes Oak Grove will lose Mikayla Forness next year because her dad took the head administrator position out in Bismarck at Shiloh Christian.

Forness is the only one back to run distance. Holt is "full of herself" and won't do any running events which doesn't help the team out at all because OG could have a very good 4x8 team this year with her. Remus went out for soccer for Fargo Shanley this spring. So yes...Oak Grove is down this year but will still compete well with their very young group of girls. Tessa Krueger transferred back to West Fargo this year.

Oak Grove's boys are getting back into form after they returned from the State Basketball tourney and choir tour (but will miss a few over the next week or so because of their close-up trip). They won't be as dominant as in year's past but they will still be near the top of the region (Top 4).

just seems to be a track issue...as of last Thursday She quit track...so Oak Grove will be even further down now. I still think that they could have a very talented group of girls for the 4x800 relay even without her. Just need to find that 4th runner...they have two girls that can run in between 2:35-2:40 right now and another that is about a 2:45-2:50 runner and the 4th runner right now can run a 2:50. Now those times are more than likely going to improve, but that 4th runner is going to need to drop her time dramatically for the team to look for a Top 2 finish (I think a 10:35 will be about 2nd place at Regionals...not even qualifying. First place may not even run a qualifying time).

Its early and those are my early predictions from the indoor season...things will change as the outdoor season begins this week.

I'm not saying that there won't be any CC girls qualifying...I just put my top 2 favorites in...the fact of the matter is that some of these girls may qualify before regionals opening a spot for others to qualify in their places.

I find it interesting that Kindred track meets have so many athletes qualify when their times were no where near qualifying before that meet.

I find it interesting that Oak Grove uses high school kids as timers for their last chance meet! I hope they find some adults for regionals!!

Those weren't high school students yesterday! Those were college students and the reason that they helped was because they were understaffed.

You know that they weren't all college students (Tessa Krueger), but rather than argue about it, please make sure the timers are better qualified for regionals, that's all I ask.

I wish we all could afford a FAT system!

well we can't ALL afford an FAT system. And there will be mostly adults at the line at Regionals, with some college students. They did a decent job at the line...it was an efficient meet for 20 teams being there. Don't complain!! You run a meet and find out how hard it is to get enough people to work that aren't coaches (cause we know that the coaches would much rather watch their athletes compete than work the finish line).

Yes also how they post their qualifying times on the state site as valid after running on a track that is short.

That's my point! But oh well...you get your kids there and then they don't run well because they can't run with their competition!

I love how two boys qualified for the 800 and they dropped 8 seconds each. I doubt that they will be anywhere near a 2:03 from here on out
