3 area's of interest for me...barnes won the 800 last year so wouldn't he be the front runner to win it this year? also jake miller is very good at the 800 and i believe he would have won it if he would have been healthy
Shot put and discuss are another area for me... midinger is good at both and has the ability to win both but is inconsistency scares me i think conrad (i know his last name but i am not even going to attemp to spell it) is going to have a big year... he could be a 3 time winner in shot after he gets done with high school... also i would probably put keilpinski in there for disc...another inconsistent one which scares me but his long arms also scare me... that kid has a 170 plus throw in him its just a matter for when and if it happens

I wouldnt be so sure of red river winning the 4x100 or 4x200, some good runners are not doing track this year...hint hint.

To everyone not picking Smart in the 400. What logic do you have of not predicting him? He was the only one to break 50 last year (49 for that matter). And wasn't even a 400 meter runner going into the season. I predict him to threaten the sub 48 mark.

I agree, he is a shoo-in. I dont know about sub 48 but you never know. He is very entertaining to watch.

i have heard he tore is ACL...if he is not ACL dependent (which i am guessing he is not if he is thinking about running while having it tore) he should be fine in the 100. The 200 might not be is good because he has to run the curve and even though it wont hurt him he might not have the stability in his knee to pick up speed in the turn. That being said i feel really bad for this kid... 2 years in a row he is going to be hampered during track because of injuries.

Bismarck has the best shot at the 4X800, but I wouldn't leave out WF or GFC. WF has a couple of kids from cross that haven't done track before, and same with GFC (and I'm talking about all-conference kids). GFC was also plagued by the flu-bug at state, and a result they had a poor showing. WF had two kids pass out in the race, and, like I said, a lot of potential in the incoming kids.
Also, to the comment critisizing Uetz for passing out at state (and Gehrig), when you're sick, bad things happen.
To those who pick RR to win the 4X100, they've had kids dropping out, so I'll put my money elsewhere.
Finally, I see the 800 being the most exciting race at state.

When you're 150 meters from the finish in the state meet you finish the race

You obviously have never had to all-out race a entire half mile after runing 2.5 miles. Because if you did, you would know that sympathy is pretty easy to give out to people who have passed out at the end of races before.

Honestly you go and run a 4:18 of w.e. 1600 then you can talk crap about other people. Also your previous comment didnt make sense about running an 800 when u cant finish a 5k? If my math is correct (which my calculus teacher would back me up) the 800 is well shorter than a 5000 so what does not finishing a 5k have to do with an 800?
