3 area's of interest for me...barnes won the 800 last year so wouldn't he be the front runner to win it this year? also jake miller is very good at the 800 and i believe he would have won it if he would have been healthy
Shot put and discuss are another area for me... midinger is good at both and has the ability to win both but is inconsistency scares me i think conrad (i know his last name but i am not even going to attemp to spell it) is going to have a big year... he could be a 3 time winner in shot after he gets done with high school... also i would probably put keilpinski in there for disc...another inconsistent one which scares me but his long arms also scare me... that kid has a 170 plus throw in him its just a matter for when and if it happens

ooh i would like to get into this action.......... i enjoyed last year when ppl were doubting the capabilities of taylor stein, but us believers proved everyone wrong. this year will be different expectations but same results taylor stein state champ again in high jump and hopefully the triple. the 4by100 i'd throw up between red river, bismarck high, and century same with the 4by200.... brett kelly is going to do work his senior year and dominate the long distance, who cares about brown otter with the homecoming king brett kelly pulling his high horse through the finish line... pole vault will be a toss up, a bunch of hot new talent but watch out for a couple chs athletes placing themselves in the mix... this track season will be one heck of a good one and hope to see it follow through with a lot of competiveness and fast times

pole vault will be a toss up? who are you kidding! Brock Larson won it last year as a sophomore. He is in Fargo Souths record board for pole vaulting. NOBODY HAS A CHANCE

I'm just sayin that its gonna be a season that has to unfold for you to see what i mean.. dont forget about alex koppy, also a sophomore last year. there are others that will be surprising to see develop. im just saying let the season progress no doubt brock larson won, but he is coming into the season being the hunted not the hunter. and the pressure of winning a state championship 2 yrs in a row is a heavy burden for such a young one.

Kelly won't be able to keep up with the top Bismarck runners in distance. Jacobs is fast but definitely not among the very elite in sprinting with the likes of Smith, Welk, Smart, etc. Mielke and Kielpinski both outdistanced Meidinger and Schwartzkopft at state in those respective events. As for Stein, I still maintain from the debates last year that Sinner is a better high jumper. And for the triple, Johnson was only five inches back of Stein last year, and I think he's got more room to grow. No reason that Kelly, Stein, or Meidinger couldn't pull off a win at state but I don't think they will. I think my predictions stand solid and have no stupidness about them, thank you very much.

Brock won't be phased by that. i would have to say that being the starting QB for the bruin football team as a soph and junior has more pressure than winning the state championship in pole vaulting.

2010 Long Jump

Postby ndtrack3 » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:38 pm

Long jump: Simply put, straight toss up between Bismarck's Alex Neumiller and Century's Taylor Daniel. Both sophs, long jump has a bright future!

Daniel is not CLOSE to the level of Neumiller in the LJ. The kid's definitely good and has a nice shot at qualifying but unless he makes a humungous improvement there is no "toss up" between who's better in that comparison.

Probably true, but I know Neumiller jumped 21' 5" or something and Daniel had a 21' jump but apparently he scratched it. I'm just saying to keep an eye out for him this season. They both have great potential.

I don't know who is betting against stein in the high jump. He destroyed the competition last year.

there is no way kelly will win th 800 or the 1600 in a million years hes just not fast enough
miller barnes or uetz in 800 and most likely uetz in 1600
i would also like to say that century won't take top honors in EVERY SINGLE EVENT you must go to century
and you shhould consider not making it that blatantly obvious

Don't try sarcasm powercat - I already did that in the basketball forums to try to make fun of Century and after over a month and probably 15+ posts no one was still figuring it out.
