baseball, i would like to see some reasons why track isnt a sport. just face the fact, track is a sport.

Saas25 is correct. saying track isn't a sport is like saying kobe bryant cant shoot a baasketball.

its true track is a sport but a very poor sport not enough hitting maybe if the like cleated people while running or even tripped them it would be better and funnier

contact isn't needed to make a sport great. look at baseball, there's not any contact in it and it america's pasttime. don't get me wrong, contact makes everything more interesting but i just think that it depends on how much contact is in that sport determines how great it is.

baseball wrote:TRACK IS NOT A SPORT!!!  Sports involve strategy and using that stragety to win.  All track is if you can run 100 meters faster then this person your better at sports.  Sports are basektball, baseball, football, soccer, hockey.

Strategy is used...It is just like wrestling. If you have a runner that has 4 events filled but can do more, you have to put him in the events he will generate the most points so you win the meet as a TEAM. Track takes athleticism, I would like to see you try and get out of the blocks and run a full 200 or 400, or try and pole vault, it takes alot of practice and hard work.

people hit each other with elbows for entire races when they run next to each other. i dont no where you are from but i know that where i am track, baseball, and golf are all treated very equally in the newspaper. if there is a baseball game and a  track meet the same day, baseball will  be the headliner in the following day in the sports section. so don't pull this track gets too much coverage stuff.

i believe the day century beat mandan or day after it was all about how weston leutz is god of the track the whole top half is him jumping middle 1/4 is chs mandan lower 2/3 is about the twins even though half the city dosnt like the twins basically anyday luetz competes in track there will be some form of full body shot of him in the front of sports

Doesn't Bismarck usually produce a lot of good track teams and track athletes? No offense to Century and Mandan but how huge a game was that? Its pretty much gonna depend of the success of a program what a paper decides to cover more. I could be wrong.

does it matter if it a school wants to dedicate a sporting event to one individual? there are tourney's all over the place that are referred to person. for example, the "terry Jablonsky Classic" for baseball in dickinson.

i'm sure most people on this site have participated in an event dedicated to someone.

You can't seriously be from Bismarck and not know who dude Karlgard is, he has been involved in athletics in the community for the past 30 years.  I will bet if you heard his voice you would recognize it.

Random comment. The kid qualified in the 110 hurldes on Tuesday. He has been in the state meet every year since his 8th grade year. The topic says all-state track. 5 years in a row, i was just saying he is one of the best in our area.

He doesn't hold any BHS records but he holds state records? He ran a 10.44 in the 100 meters. I'm pretty sure thats the state record. The closest this year is a 10.80 by Weston Leutz. I'd have to say he's the fastest the state of ND has seen unless someone shows me otherwise.

Weston Dressler has Bhs' record in the 100 meters with 10.4 and second in the 200 but he has the fastest FAT time for bhs at 21.59 in the 200.
