larson...the kid is amazing and i don't feel like i'm being a homer by picking him over the others. watching him completely dominate the field at state cross country was pretty wild.

i was there with a crappy camera so i needed to get a picture of him kind of far away (the camera i had couldn't stop someone running without getting blurry when they were up close). in the picture of him coming up the homestretch, he was absolutely all alone.

he finished 14 seconds ahead of osoro, 29 ahead of reichenberger, 1:03 ahead of huizenga. i don't know how that will translate to a flat course, but larson is a flat-out stud.

I agree he is a great representative for our state. He ran well tonight at the WDA, finished 3 seconds ahead of Osoro in the mile and tied Reichenbergers time from the Fargo Dual. I think it will be a shootout in Fargo next week at State Indoor. Larson was the lone senior in the first 7 spots or so, 2nd through 7 went to all sophomores and 1 Junior..

Larson Senior, Osoro Sophomore, Beaudoin sophomore, Slusser Sophomore,Huizenga Sophomore, Martel Junior, Karilouma junior, entzel senior

As a sophomore at the EDC Larson ran a 4:36 which is about 3 seconds slower than Osoro ran it tonight. Granted a great runner like larson and Osoro make the race a much faster one and as a sophomore Larson had no one to pace off, he was the fastest, so not only is he a great champion but also makes others around him better. I cannot wait till next Friday.

I hope he is, I love Patrick, been a great runner for a long time.. With Russel graduated it should be his time to shine, he has good competition from the Parshall boys and probably from Dylan Yoder from Rugby, but ya never know that's why they run the races.

Is the 800 considered in this topic?? I think they meant mile and 2 mile. But hands down its Sam Larson from Jamestown. He will have a great year in the mile and 2 mile and he could also do some damage in the 800.

Larson from Jamestown is a good one.
I don't know if I practiced more than anybody, but I sure practiced enough. I still wonder if somebody - somewhere - was practicing more than me.

ya he does...he was the state champ last year, and will be again this year. Look for a time for him in the 2 mile after the meet on friday.

I think Larson can be beaten in the 3200 this year. Osoro and Parrish have already run outstanding times considering it's not even May yet, and Reichenberger has also gone under 9:40. These guys would potentially be able to push the pace to such an extent that it would take away Larson's kick, just as Zunich did at state two years ago. Even if Larson were able to win the 3200, chances are he'd have to work so hard to do so that his legs would be shot and Field and/or somebody else would beat him in the 800.

Since Corey Ihmels in the early 1990's, has a class A runner swept the 800, 1600 and 3200 at state in the same year? I don't believe it's happened.

Larson blew away Parrish today at the Shanley Legion Meet. A kid from Moorehead gave him a good race for the first mile, but then he took him too.
