2014 College Signings

Here's a list of ND kids who signed yesterday to compete at the next level. Congrats and good luck to all!

NDSU MEN:

Nigel Hageness (Rugby HS) won North Dakota Class B state titles in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay as a sophomore in 2012, helping Rugby HS to a second-place team finish. He was the runner-up in the 100m as a junior in 2013.

Landon Jochim (Bismarck Century HS) was the North Dakota Class A runner-up in the 400m as a junior in 2013. He is a two-time state champion in the 4x400m relay for Bismarck Century HS.

Camron Roehl (Grand Forks Central HS) qualified for the North Dakota Class A state track meet in the 800m, 1600m, 3200m and 4x800m relay as a junior in 2013. As a sophomore, he was also a state qualifier in the 1600m, 3200m and a pair of relays. He placed fourth at the state cross country meet as a senior in 2013 while playing soccer in the same season.

Brandon Scheel (Fargo Davies HS) is an all-state performer in cross country and track. He is a two-time Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) champion in cross country and placed third at the 2013 state cross country meet as a senior. Scheel has qualified for the North Dakota state track meet in the 1600m and 3200m in each of the last two years, placing fourth in the 3200m as a sophomore in 2012.

NDSU WOMEN:

Gabby Grommesh (Central Cass HS) placed second in the 100m and third in the 200m in North Dakota Class B as a junior in 2013. She has run on five consecutive state-qualifying 4x100m relays, including a state championship as a sophomore in 2012. Grommesh ran on Central Cass 4x200m relays that finished third and fourth in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Amanda Levin (West Fargo HS) swept the North Dakota Class A state titles in the sprints as a junior in 2013, winning at 100m, 200m and 400m. As a sophomore, she earned runner-up honors in all three events, and she ran on West Fargo 4x200m relay teams that finished second in each of the last two years. Levin ranks among the top 10 performers in North Dakota high school history with her 100m time of 12.05 seconds and her 200m time of 25.14.

Sierra Link (Bismarck Century HS) was the North Dakota Class A runner-up in the 800m as a junior, running 2:18.83 at the state meet. She placed fifth in the 800m as a sophomore and was seventh in the 400m as a freshman. Link has run on six state-qualifying relay teams in her career, including three that took runner-up honors.

Alyssa Olin (Mott-Regent HS) has been a North Dakota Class B state meet qualifier in three different events over the past two seasons. She earned a runner-up finish in the javelin as a junior in 2013 after taking ninth as a sophomore. Olin ran on Mott-Regent 4x200m state-qualifying relays in each of the last three years, as well as qualifying for state in the long jump.

Emma Schalow (Fargo South HS) is a two-time North Dakota Class A placewinner in the long jump, taking fourth as a sophomore in 2012 and second as a junior in 2013. She earned a pair of fifth-place finishes at the state meet on the 4x200m relay in 2012 and the 4x100m relay in 2013, as well as qualifying both years in the pole vault.

Alexis Woods (Parshall HS) is a three-time North Dakota Class B state champion in the 400m dash, winning the title as a freshman, sophomore and junior after finishing second as both a seventh- and eighth-grader. She is also a two-time placewinner in the 100m and 200m dashes. As a freshman, she won the 400m state title with a time of 57.22 seconds.

UNIVERSITY OF MARY WOMEN (Cross Country):

Lexi Zeis (Distance, 5-5, Bismarck, ND / Bismarck HS)
A two-time member of the North Dakota state champion cross country team as a junior and senior, Lexi Zeis was the individual state runner-up her junior year (2012). A four-time all-state and all-region cross country selection, Zeis also ran on the state runners-up team as a freshman and sophomore. She also ran on the 2010 Bismarck High state track and field championship team and on the second place squads in 2011-12-13. Fourth in the state as a senior, Zeis placed 10th at the Roy Griak Invitational and 18th at the Nike regional.

Brittany Brownotter (Distance, 5-2, Bismarck, N.D. / Bismarck HS)
The 2012 North Dakota girls individual champion and the 2013 Senior Athlete of the Year, Brittany Brownotter led Bismarck High School to three state team championships in four years (2010, 2012-13). Four times she earned all-state and all region honors (2010-13) and placed 8th at the 2013 Nike Heartland Regional. Brownotter is also a two-time state track champion in the 3,200 meter run, captured a 1,600 meter run title and ran on the 3,200 meter relay championship team.

MINOT STATE:


Cole Kringstad (Pole vault/Sprints, Thompson, N.D. / Grand Forks Red River High School)
Kringstad won the 2013 North Dakota Class A State Pole Vault Championship for Red River High School in Grand Forks, N.D. He has a personal best height of 13-feet-9 in pole vault and owns PRs of 11.77 seconds in the 100-meters and 24.90 seconds in the 200.


Kaleb Kirby (Pole Vault, South Elgin, Ill. / Saint Charles North High School)
Kirby is the Saint Charles North High School record holder in the pole vault with a personal best of 14-feet-7. He is an Illinois State Championships qualifier, winning the Kane County championship and the UEC River Division Championship.


Kevin Hodges (Throws, Huson, Mont. / Frenchtown High School)
Hodges is an all-conference performer in the discus at Frenchtown High School, finishing 11th at the Montana State Championships in the event. He was also an all-conference performer in football. Hodges boasts personal bests of 42-feet in the shot put and 133-feet in the discus.

Kelsey Laufenberg, a thrower from Enderlin, N.D., is a four-time North Dakota Class B state placewinner in the shot put, placing fourth as an eighth-grader, third as a freshman, second as a sophomore and first as a junior in 2013. She also took fifth at the state championships in the discus as a junior last season and was an all-district basketball player for Enderlin.

FYI - Maple Valley and Enderlin are separate in girls basketball

Yep I'm sure ClassBEast knows that...I think they took this straight from the NDSU website. The sentence sets is set up poorly.

You are exactly correct. I should have caught that but copied it from the NDSU press release. It's been fixed!
