Central Cass girls and Kindred boys are off to impressive starts to their seasons.

Thoughts/predictions on the season?

I would guess CC is the favorite in girls.

CC should be girls favorite…kindred could be a boys favorite…it’s still early and most teams are still indoors. We’ll get a better idea once all get outdoors

Those two win their regions handedly IMO

Paul Olson went 6-8 in the HJ today at NDSU for Kindred.

I saw a picture of Olson clearing 6'8" on Twitter. AMAZING! With some coaching and experience, he looks like he could clear 7 feet.

Was likely a bit tired after starting at a low height (5-6)…that’ll change now I assume. He cleared 6-6 on 3rd attempt…and 6-8 on 1st attempt (impressive); J. Peraza went 6-2 as well.

Kindred (boys) & CC (girls) have very impressive depth. Kindred boys nearly beat Moorhead and CC girls beat Moorhead & Bemidji on Saturday. Hopefully for nicer weather soon so track can get outdoors

First time jumping at a track meet..... not a bad way to start and yep... It looks like 7 feet is possible. BUT to jump 6'8 with basically no training.... wow.

No kidding. I'll bet some college track coaches are going to be talking to him this spring. He might get some nice offers to do track at the next level.

6'9.5 is the state record.... That might be in trouble.

Has to do it at the State Meet though.

Non-State Meet Marks are listed here (7-0 is the record):

Don’t know if this is the right place to ask, but can anyone tell me who won the awards for Coach of the Year and Senior Athlete of the Year in Boys and Girls divisions of the South Central Region? Thanks in advance.

Some are updated up to current...but 300 hurdles isn't updated even back to the days of Whitney Carlson....

Why would that be?

Earlier I just looked at the first place times/marks and compared A to B. Pretty crazy how far A is ahead of B in Track and Field.

100% true. I'm sure there are a lot of class B coaches in over their head coaching track. There is a lot to know. Training is a big part too, but I think you could make the same argument for other sports as well. Class A sports are better I just think the gap is bigger in track than say basketball.

Also, the fitness centers that larger schools have built or are building has to make some sort of difference.
