power-aid14 wrote:you guys are all wrong, the chant that defines the legacy of class B basketball is hearing everyone of a certain town start chanting..."yeS wE CAN, YES WE CAN"...but deep down you know half of the parents are like..yeaa umm no....we cant

yes you can what?

the only time ive heard that chant is in hockey, we started chanting "you cant do that" and they came back with "yes we can" but i have never heard it anywhere else and im not sure where it is used in basketball

"you cant do that" and "yes we can"....those arent really chant lines or even chant material. sounds more like a conversation to me.

ya thats right, especially since u are the one who initially said yes we can for best chant, and now its not a chant?

i think what he means is that its a conversation if its back and forth between the 2 crowds and a chant if its just one side.....the yes we can chant is used alot in basketball games when there is an underdog and it is within striking distance late in the game.  so if you only heard it one time at a hockey game you must not go to many sporting events because i have heard it in just about every sport ive ever watched

hmmm thats interesting, i havent heard it that much, good assumption, i must not go to many sporting events!!!!!!!

on a non-sarcasm note: i like it when the two crowds are having this "conversation" i like when the two are chanting back and forth at each other, to me it gets the fans more involved.

I cant let this go on any longer...Trinity cannot take credit for that cheer, that cheer was originated in 2001 by the Killdeer Cowboy's cheering section, they used to do it whenever someone hit a 3, like in the movie The Replacements, that year Trinity beat Killdeer to go to state and used the cheer there, and have been taking credit for it ever since...its a flamashamockery that Trinity gets credit for that cheer

Im not taking credit for it, im saying that Trinity got the idea from the Killdeer fans way back, but the Killdeer kids got it from The Replacements with the Brittish kicker, Nigel Gruff. I am guessing it was made up by soccer fans, im just saying Trinity came up with the idea out of nowhere, they got it from Killdeeer though

I heard it at state VB in 97 or 98.  So regardless you are stealing "cheers" from VB and soccer.  Proud.

im actually a fan of the "hes a freshman" chant, just not when he comes off hte bench late in a game and is just in the right place at the right time with a broken play layup.  but if hes a regular and starts breakin people down off the dribble and taking a game over i like it.
