class a...stop complaining......wood bats will be fun and if you are any good you will find ways to use the wood bat to your advantage via: more bunting, soft grounders, and with less home runs leaving the park i would expect to see less kids pulling their heads and trying to go yard and more kids keeping their head down focused on the ball and having good base hits.

I agree with Wenzel, most scouts look for speed and a strong arm, everything else is a bonus too them.

You need to put this in perspective.  Every kid in the country grew up playing with wood bats up until the past couple of generations.  The game did just fine with wood bats in the past, and will do just fine with them in the future.  Wood bats will kill JV baseball...what a ridiculous statement!

When looking back on this move in 10 years, yeah wood bats will pay of then. However, I agree that wood bats will hurt JV baseball for the next couple of seasons. The reason that baseball has survived for so many generations before metal was that children were used to wood. Now, there are kids who are used to the production from metal and are going to be struggling this year. I don't know how extreme it will get as far as if anyone quits b/c they are not hitting well, but for a couple years JV baseball will be hurt by this.

I guess players are going to look forward to the Legion season even more now!

Not just that, but On Base Percentage is way more important than batting average.

i really dont believe in switchin to wood bats but there are a couple things for sure

1. a good pitcher will dominate the games he pitches in

2. we will all find out who can really hit

   Going to wood bats his the worst move possible, you couldn't pay me enough to watch a highschool wood bat game when its 30 degrees out.  It would be almost worst then watching soccer, waiting 90 mins to see who gets that one hit of the game...

I was reading ESPN the mag this week and came along a little article on a metal wood bat. THe barrel is wooden with aluminum handle. Here is the link to the site:

The metalwood company has been making bats since at least 2003, at least that is the first time I saw one. Personally, I don't like them, but the concept is a good concept. But then again, I am not a big 2-piece bat fan in the first place...

It is supposed to be a safety measure, but I still say that if you hit one on the button right back up the box, the pitcher is going to be in danger regardless of what kind of bat is being used.

The nice thing about bats is that you will really know who are the good hitters and who arent. It feels so good when you hit it right on the sweet spot. I hope that baseball from t-ball to the pros are all wood. It is good for the game

ya i think it will be interesting to see how many home runs are still hit using the wood bats. a HR definetly means more now.

Aluminum bats are to high school kids as steriods are to pro players...

There is nothing like the click you get off of a wood bat when you hit the ball on the sweet spot. I agree with 643master on his post about bringing back the wood bats.---Real baseball--real fun.

New York City - the biggest league in the us has banned metal bats....they are an all wood bat  high school league now........article on msn.com concerning the decision
