ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Weston Dressler had 217 total yards and two touchdowns and Reed Manke threw for a career-high four scores Friday as North Dakota beat Central Washington 28-14 in the first game of the season for both teams.

Dressler caught 10 passes for 141 yards, ran the ball once for four yards and had 72 yards in punt and kickoff returns. The catches, receiving yards and touchdowns all were career highs.

Central Washington, playing its first game as a North Central Conference affiliate member, jumped out to a 14-0 lead. Mike Reilly threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Josh Boonstra in the first quarter and a 16-yard scoring strike to Johnny Spevak at the 5:46 mark of the second.

The Fighting Sioux scored twice in the final 3:23 of the first half to tie the game. Manke connected with Dressler from 21 yards, and then with Brady Trenbeath from 37 yards.

UND took the lead for good in the third quarter, on an 11-play, 90-yard drive that ended with a nine-yard pass from Manke to Dressler. Manke connected with Trent Christensen from one yard out late in the quarter for the final margin.

Manke's brother, Rory, intercepted two Reilly passes in the second half _ including one in the back of the end zone.

The game was even statistically, with UND edging Central Washington on offense 343 yards to 310. Neither team rushed for more than 100 yards, but both were well above 200 yards passing.

Brandon Strouth led the Sioux on the ground, carrying 20 times for 51 yards. Johnny Lopez had 54 yards on nine carries for the Wildcats. Spevak caught eight passes for 98 yards for Central Washington.

Manke finished 22-of-30 for 261 yards and one interception. Reilly was 23-of-37 for 238 yards and the two interceptions.
