Only time will tell on this...being in the news this much can't be helping their move to the NSIC though

Giving up 34.5 ppg year one and 46.6 ppg year two in frontier conference games probably had more to do with it than the offense. DSU has had success in the DAC/NorthStar because of their ability to pull guys from eastern MT. Unfortunately for them, the members of the Frontier pull better guys from MT.

Here's how bad offense hurts the defense. Offense runs on first and second down and gets minimal yardage. On 3rd Down and 10, QB takes snap from under center in the I-Formation. (Since that is the only formation he ever used. It could have been 3rd and 20, and he would have had the QB under center with fullback and running back behind him) By the time the QB drops back into the pocket, he gets sacked because they have a problem with pass blocking, meaning 3 and out and a punt. When that happens a lot, the defense gets worn out from being on the field too much, and gives up more points than they would than if they were on the field less. And when the offense scores minimal points, that does not help overall trying to win a game. It was especially a problem in that second year.

Everything is pretty hush hush about the Men's program. The Admin must be taking lessons from the Admin at Mayville.

I've heard the head coach was having a tough time adjusting to not having the best playing in the nation on his team and he was taking it out on the team.

So all teams are exploring their options, which could be the Frontier for Dickinson St and D3 for Mayville. Jamestown could very well schedule all the current North Star teams next year if they have available games, but the conference itself is a goner unless they can find more teams that play football to join the conference. Those teams are not out there, unless you can convince some area D3 or D2 teams to move to the NAIA.

I don't think Dickinson State would want to go the Frontier route again. They tried that a few years ago and it wasn't successful for them.

Well looks like I was way off about Dickinson State haha. We will see how this round goes for them in the Frontier.

They beat Montana Tech in the football playoffs this year, which shows how much better they are now than the last time. It won't be easy conference championships like the North Star, but they should still have years where they can be in playoff contention. I wonder if that accelerated the process, where seeing that success let them to go forward now rather than waiting a year. (They've also had decent showings in basketball against Frontier teams this year.) Since the North Star would need two more teams, the prospects must not be very good for them to get those teams and be able to stay a conference.
