According to the Fargo Forum, Weston Leutz from Bismarck Century has committed to North Dakota State for football (but I think it's safe to say that he'll be participating in track too).

Edit: Actually, the Forum doesn't say which sport(s) Leutz will be participating in - might be track, might be football, might be both.

Anybody know who is recruiting Austin Richards or where he's leaning towards?  He is a beast.  I saw on the Gophers site that they were looking at him.

I would say either NDSU or Minnesota. I would say NDSU, why in heaven would you wanna go to Minnesota right now with everything going on their right now? I'm sure he has gotten letters from other schools but I would think SU could give him the best offer scholarship wise.

Austin Richards is from Fargo South (offensive linemen).

Last year, the papers didn't pick up on NDSU's first commitment until Dec 13 (Michael Arndt and Landon Smith) and UND followed not long after with Paul German.

The earliest reported commitment I remember for NDSU was when Tyler Roehl (West Fargo) and Jerimiah Wurzbacher (Fargo South) both committed in early September, right after NDSU stunned Montana in front of 23,000 fans.

It's been reported that NDSU has received two verbals so far... one from MN and one from WI. Nothing from UND yet, but that's not unusual at all. It's actually kind of unusual to get more than one or two commitments before Thanksgiving.

Austin Richards verbally commited to NDSU it was reported on WDAY.  He's going to be a great Bison, apparently it was the only offer that was given to him.  It really makes me think that North Dakota is still overlooked as far as recruiting goes, and that is one reason that UND and NDSU have had such great success in their football programs.

me and another guy were talking about north dakota athletes yesterday and we came to this conclusion. you can recruit from north dakota just about every position on the field.

this state produces good linemen (that ol german strength..huah), good running backs, good receivers and good defensive players. really, about the only positions that the state seems to have trouble producing consistently are quarterbacks and kickers.

Oh yeah, you can recruit every position from North Dakota - no doubt about it.

Hey, I'm just glad NDSU got Austin Richards. If the guy works hard and stays injury free, he could be one of the best ever.

College FB signing date is about three months away.  Most schools haven't had a chance to go out and recruit because they are still playing.  All commits at this point are verbal.  Anyone is fair game until their name is on the dotted line.

ND has produced some good kickers in recent years--Jeff Glas being the best, but also Brandon Hellevang, and Shaun Braunagel (sp?).

Quarterbacks are a little tougher to come by, but there have been some good ones in the past 20 years--Todd Kovash, the Wahl brothers from Jamestown, Clay Wagner, Kevin Feeney, Tony Stein, Chris Berg, Brooks Bollinger and Jake Landry to name a few.

Looking at the Univ. of Mary, they have had some quality ND QB's.

Schwab, Kirchoffner, Sandy all have had nice careers (Sandy still has another year).

Was reading Steve Hallstroms blog and it said that he talked to a coach out west who said Luke Senger has gotten partial scholarship offers from UND and NDSU. UND offering the most right now.

Also said their could be a chance Catlin Solum plays baseball and not football in college.

According to the blurb on the Forum site, he'll play offense.

Since the Forum is reporting that Luke Senger committed to NDSU, this is how things stand as far as North Dakota recruiting:

Austin Richard (Fargo South) - NDSU

Brock Bellmore (West Fargo) - UND

Catlin Solum (Fargo South) - UND

Dan Hendrickson (Minot) - UND

Luke Senger (Bismarck) - NDSU
