[font=georgia]i would like to say congrats to landon smith on winnin the male athlete of the year and for gregg grinnsteiner and the dt bball team for being finalists for the ndassap(something like that) awards. and congrats to all the other finalists.[/font]

i'm not taking away from the signifcance of the awards. not at all. BUT how many people are members? how many votes are there?

not a clue to be honest. my editor went to the meeting a few weeks ago out in dickinson and i haven't ever been to it. if i had to guess there is probably a representative from all the major newspapers and tv stations, but i'm not sure how many radio guys are involved?

I'd guess it's around the same number that vote for Mr. BB. so at what point does the limited number of votes dilute the signifcance? Same arguements hold true for Mr. BB as like "how many games of jaden voth" did the KVLY Sports Director Scott Peters watch? Lee Timmerman see Travis Mertens play...ever?

tv stations share highlights with each other so LT probably has seen mertens more than ya think with other stations sending him the game tape.

With all due respect highlights are not games.

And how many highlights do you think Bismarck would run of Devils Lake games? DL vs Grand Forks Central ain't gonna fly on Bismarck TV.

I dont' like how ND AP votes on Mr. BB or the end of the year awards. More credit should be given to the Class B and Class A Senior players of the year award.

are the senior athletes of the year a coaches association award that are nominated from regional winners?

I have more confidence in coaches voting in each region than media. i have more confidence in the coach in Ray telling the coach in Richland that Crosby's Benter is more desrving of the State POY than I do of a Fargo radio broadcaster telling the Williston Sporster writer not to vote for Voth.

does that make sense? In my mind it does.
