The Twins are built to win their division over the long haul of 162 games, but for a short season their roster isn't really ideal, without a shutdown starter behind Liriano, one of the weakest 'pens of any contender and a manager with an inexplicable affinity for small-ball tactics. The other three AL playoff teams all lead off their rotations with left-handers who are likely to give Mauer and Thome trouble. The Twins' chances for playoff success are higher with Liriano than they were last year without him, but it's hard to see them getting past one or both of the AL East teams in the postseason.
