Every division, except FBS, of college football has at least 16 teams in the playoffs.

That way the best team wins and just like every other sport has a clear cut national champion. how many people other then the athletic departments and 2 teams playing in it care about the motor city bowl?

Have to agree, going 7-5 and going to a bowl game is kinda pointless, just adapt something like they use for basketball, but using like 8 or 16 teams.

I would agree with the 16 team bracket tourney. The BCS is a joke and it's more of who they want to be number one then who really deserves to be there. Case and point, when Ohio State lost to USC, they did get blown out, but they we're the number 2 team and after the lost, they dropped to number 13??? Just a couple of weeks ago #2 Texas Tech loses and dropped to I believe to # 5 or 6. What gives, both team got blown out. Ohio got blown out by the, at that time, the #1 team, where Texas Tech got blown out by the #4 team Oklahoma.
SO give us a bracket tourney and we can still have the bowl games, so the promoter can make their money, and everyone will be happy.

Schools that have very little chance of ever getting into the tournament would need an opportunity for a bowl game of some sort to recruit for. Even though the international bowl is in Toronto, I bet the players get treated pretty nice. It's not really about money, it's about having something to play for, have a good season and get into the best bowl that they can get. If you expanded the playoff to 16 teams, then you are looking at 4 extra games. Do you then cut back the number of regular season games so that you don't have college students now playing 16 game seasons? I don't think that would sit well with teams that don't make the playoffs, that would mean less ticket revenue and less of an athletic budget.
