Also Erstad was a great hurdler in track!

Derek Pauly is a good athlete but we are looking for the best and nothing against him but he don't even make it close to the cut we are trying to get here.

I'm gonna have say Weston Dressler is the best All-Around ND athlete, his numbers prove themself.  Whether it be is 2,000 yd rushing performance (not to mention all the school records he has), basketball court lighting up threes, or dominating in track.

I believe that Weston Leutz has to be in consideration.  All-State reciever, not a bad basketball player, and an absolute stud on the track.  He has qualified in 6 events already this year...and I am sure he will add a couple more.

i think this is ment for players that are still playing in high school so with that said

Zac Elgie starting qb as a soph leads state in hrs as a freshie until statei think he playes basketball too

Zach Wentz also starting qb on varsity starting defensemen in hockey for varsity starting pitcher and short as freshman on varsity

but for those already gone what about kleinsasser for the vikings he was a great basketball player and made it to the pros in football

andrew leclair was an interesting athlete...basically a big-hit linebacker, a center in basketball and a sprinter in track. personally i don't think that football and basketball set him apart as an athlete. he was a stud, but basically i had big expectations for him in those sports. but i remember watching him blow by people at track meets and thinking, wow, he can move for a big guy.

I Concur with Maris. He was a stud in both Football and Baseball in Fargo. And he was part of the M&M Brothers (Mantle/Maris). Anytime your name is said in the same breath as Mantle you must be legit.

Yeah, it all depends if you mean "ever", past 10 yrs. or currently,

Ever- Roger Maris without a doubt.

Past 10 years- Kleinsasser

Currently- I'd have to say Luetz

I think that the best athlete ever from Norht Dakota would have to be Roger Marris considering he won an MVP award in baseball and was offered a full football scholarship at OU. I think that currently it would have to be Josh Lagein, he is a great all around athlete.

Ever- probably Maris you can also consider Erstad
Past 10 years: Erstad or even Hennessey
Currently: to close to call between Mertens, Lagein, and Landry

I did see koenig play in BB and football.  He was great in basketball, but he never impressed me in football.  It's was just that he was too tall for a high school corner to cover very well.  So I wouldn't put him in the "All-around Athelete" section.

In the past 2-3 years, the best have been Carr, Hennessey, Marto and Elgie.
Carr - solid QB in FB, Mr. Basketball candidate and drafted by the Twins.
Hennessey - solid QB in FB, Mr. Basketball and a dang good baseball player.
Marto - very good FB receiver, Mr. Hockey and a dang good baseball player.
Elgie - solid QB and all-state safety in FB, all-WDA tourney and state tourney teams in basketball, preseason all-america in baseball (all as a sophomore).

That is a good list, although, I'm sure there is a Fargo kid I am missing...
Actually Tommy Weidler could be on that list as well. Great football player, very solid at basketball, and is very good at both track and baseball this summer.
Grant Windfaldet from Divide County is another Class B guy from last year. He was an all-stater in football and basketball and was a good baseball player.

Y-not daily:

Great list, I like the fact that Tommy Weidler made your list. Another name from the past is Tom Petrik, early 70's from Bismarck high. Outstanding in football, still career leader in ponts (career) at BHS in basketball, Superb track athlete, I believe his state record in mile? is still standing or was broken in not too distant past. Played fb for the sioux as a te.

Another would be Jay Gibson from Dickinson, Football, excellent tback, pretty good guard on either state runner-up or champ his senior yr, great track athlete, sprints and excellent centerfielder in baseball. Played 4 yrs for the sioux as a wing back and an excellent football coach for West Fargo high.

I think you could also throw Jordan Engelhardt in there.  As a sophomore he played varsity basketball, baseball, football, wrestling, and baseball.  And  he wasnt just average in every sport.
