Yep, saw this. When will we know how the regions break down?

Regions are listed to the right I thought

You are right, but I swear they weren't listed before. Thanks.

There are a couple gauntlet regions as then a couple cupcake regions. Will be interesting to see what they do for playoffs. Will there be fewer playoff tea even though there are more teams in 9man this year

There are less teams this year.

My guess is they go back to 24 teams make the playoffs. You can't go top 3 make playoffs and have 18 or top 2 and 12.

Region 3 with Linton, Shiloh, and Napoleon.

IIRC Napoleon never had Linton in their region when they won 7(?) region titles in a row.

I would like to see them go top 3 and have 18 team playoff, with the 6 region champs getting a first round bye. Puts more emphasis on winning your region and I don't like to see more than 50% of the teams making playoffs. My question is how are they going to determine home field if say two #1 seeds face off? Before they went by even year/even region gets home field, odd/odd, but there was an imbalance due to having three regions in each half and that is part of the reason they went to 4 regions in the last plan.

This doesn't work. So the region champs have a bye and the 2/3 seeds play each other in round one. Then you have 6 teams advancing to play the one seeds what happens after that round when you only have 6 teams left?

Yea, you're right. That doesn't work.

There doesn't seem to be a good way to do it.it seems like the only way to make it work would be to have some first round buys or to have playin games like AAA did back in the day. It will probably be on even years the even region winners get a buy and vise versa. Six regions just don't work well for playoffs. It will be interesting to find out what the plan is

I made a thread about this 4 years ago about how the old system was unfair to regions 1,3, 4 and 6.

I know this wouldn't happen but I would like to see a 16 team playoff with this format. Top 2 in each region get into the playoffs to give us 12. Then have 4 wildcard teams based on some kind of computer formula and a committee. That would give us a 16 team playoff. Have the teams seeded, I know that would make for a lot of travel in the post season.

Also can anyone tell me where Wing is playing this year? I cant seem to find them. Didn't Washburn and Wilton drop them. I also think that North Star should be in Region 4.

As a Bishop Ryan alum, I will say I'm really sad to see them drop to A. I know it makes sense for them since once this year's seniors graduate they will probably see a talent drop and the school is shrinking, but to me BR is just a AA program. That's always been something to appreciate about them is how the nut up and compete with those big schools. Also hate to see the natural rivalries with Trinity and St. Mary's go away

Does OG have a ton of kids out? I just don't see their motivation for moving up. They haven't been a very good nine man team.

Didn't have a choice to move up or not...its not like they opt'd up. Roughly 25 athletes out this year...very young team.

I saw a newer version on the NDHSAA website, and it showed Rugby and Harvey in the same region as Lakota and Larimore. Please tell me if that actually makes sense to you. I realize bus routes may be long regardless, but theses new matchups are regions, except for region 3, are insanely distant.

does anyone know if any teams have decided to co-op, opt up, or just do a JV schedule for next year? or
any teams that have expressed displeasure about the way the regions are aligned because of travel or losing rivalries because of switching regions?
