Dakota Hockey Magazine's Pre-Season 2007-2008 Power Rankings
1. Grand Forks Red River
2. Grafton-Park River
3. Fargo South
4. Devils Lake
5. Bismark
6. Grand Forks Central
7. West Fargo
8. Dickinson
9. Fargo North
10. Minot

I don't neccessarily agree with them, just posting them. Use this thread to rank your top 10 in ND Highschool hockey this year.

I'm not sure if I agree with those rankings..I believe Bismarck and Williston will be better then Minot and maybe even Dickinson..Williston will be a gamble with out strong goalie play

Not to be hating on the ratings, but who actually puts these rankings together? The only one that I really begin to agree with is RR being #1, as they are going to be the team to beat, but it just seems like they throw the remaining 9 teams on there.

May be the top three- in an order of some sort.
RR, South, G-PR are the top teams possibly.

the next 4 teams could go in any order also--

Devils Lake-- proved a point last year at state-- beating Grafton in the 3rd place game.
the West teams being put in the top five(like Bis.) is probably a stretch.

dickinson, Minot may be higher than WF and North
GF Central(if Simonsin was still there)- would be a top 6 team-- but without his prowess and experience they will be lucky again this year to crack the top 10.

IMO----
Top three: RR, South, Grafton
4-6 : Devils lake, dickinson, Minot
7-10 : Bismarck, Central, Shanley, williston

with a prediction that these teams make state:
East: RR, South, Grafton, Shanley (just for the sleeper spot, and to spice it up some)
West: Bis., williston, Minot, Dickinson

I agree with Sportshound a great deal. Except I think Williston is ahead of Shanley. I also think IMO Bismarck will be better then Minot and Dickinson maybe overrated. But Sportshound rankings were what they should be.

the top 3 are a givin but 4-6 id say 2 of them should be BHS and Dickinson and than probly the 4 from the east as well but i have a feeling BHS and DHS should be legit in the 5th place game at state unless one or both pull a big upset but i see them going inot state as the 1 and 2 seeds

1. Grand Forks Red River
2. Fargo South
3. Grafton-Park River
4. Devils Lake
5. Dickinson
6. Minot
7. Bismark
8. Central
9. Shanley
10. Williston

These are my Pre-season rankings. I'm sure most people are just going to be staring at the top teams all year, so I'm expecting them to change a bit, I think FS and RR will be battling it out this year for #1, with Grafton nipping at their heels, but lacking defense to be a true threat. There will be a lot of bouncing around in the lower ranks imo, but they're on a teir below GPR, FS, and RR.

No way Dicky returns their whole team who played everyone tough and they only had like 13 skaters willy lost a lot of scoring and rehak cant play every shift plus young inexperienced goalies top 5 in west shold be somthin like this
1. BHS
2. DHS
i could see 3,4,5 being tighter than everyone thinks too
3.MiHS,WHS,CHS
4. MiHS,WHS,CHS
5.MiHS,WHS,CHS
these are just my thoughts on paper but i feel dickinson will be very legit

williston only lost 5 varsity players from last year. Two were goalies, i would think that they have way more experience than dickinson.

the only teams that have a chance at the state title is Red River of course, Fargo South, Grafton-Park RIver, and Devils lake has a slight chance

i believe you have to score goals to win games and groves shouldnt be able to score on the other goalie from his net hence devils lake no chance esp. without everson

You guys dont know that DL had a lot of good underclassmen last year too. such as Byrum, Hansen, Heit, Roed, Rearden, Greene just to name a few and of the up coming players im sure they can put together a couple good lines to help out Groves.

the hockey season will once again be dominated by the east this year no west tem will even come close to the state championship game let alone winning it RR looks like the team to beat so to every other team out there good luck you have a tough task ahead of you

The only one that I know of much is Heit, and he's too much of a headcase to lead DL to competing with RR/South/GPR. Of course anything can happen, I highly doubt any 'black horse' showings from DL.

I dont even think heit is the best defensemen on the team and i think that rearden is and byrum has huge shoes to fill with everson gone but i think he can do it.

Reardon? no offense, but Heit is much better. He is more agressive and has a better presence on the ice. Plus Greene is a pretty good defensemen as well. I dont even know if Reardon will start mondays game against Jamestown.

He was on the second line of varsity last year...i know he will be playing varsity but i know i do give him too much credit because heit is such a head case.

Can't do much when you're in the penalty box for getting too frustrated, but it doesn't make you less skilled than the other players. It makes you a worse player, but referring to Heit's skill, he is a pretty good athlete, the best outside of the net, at least.
