There is an article in today's Devils Lake Forum proclaiming Kyle Everson as a Mr. Hockey candidate.

Have they even been announced yet??

I dont think the Mr Hockey candidates are picked until after the East and West Regionals...  The media guys talk to the coaches and then pick the finalists

For the Mr. Hockey candidates, I believe they are picked after the region tournaments, because both senior athletes of the year are up for the award. Those two are nominees and then two others are picked.

My picks would be that Danny Wurden will win Mr. Hockey, with Zach Miller, Eric Herbel, and Kyle Everson as the other finalists.

I dont think they have announced the MR. Hockey finalists yet, nothing against Everson but it must be some wishful thinking..

I would say that kyle everson's stats would make him a candidate along with joe schmo who didn't score any points.  Anyone in the state is a CANDIDATE.  I believe we are awaiting the announcement of the mr. hockey finalists.  You really can't argue with Kyle's statistics and what he has meant to this DL team, I think he should very well be a strong candidate.  Only time will tell if he is a FINALIST.

would a goalie even be considered for the award? let alone a region senior athlete award? because whoever wins those will probably have the best chance at Mr. Hockey

My finalist would be Miller, Wurden will be the top two choices and Herbel and Stremick will share 3rd and 4th. this is not 100% about skill but that Miller and Wurden play much harder teams and plus Wurden is a defense men...So wurden's my pick

Is anyone surprised that Stremick didn't even get nominated for the award?

They should have two from the east and two from the west.  And Stremick had only one less point than Herbal going into state.

it's not all about points, herbal stood out and stremick didn't.  stremick is a good hockey player, but herbal is on a whole new level.  stremick is a good player, but doesn't stand out like herbal.
