NDAHA wake up and drop JR gold; push 2 tier HS hockey

Postby nomogprhokee » Thu Sep 14, 2017 11:34 am

NDAHA appears to be struggling to manage what they have at the youth hockey levels. ND Hockey is dying and the same old is not working. Promote the sport and the tournament trail after Bantams. Utilize your resources to get the ADs from the small towns hockey communities to push 2 tier hockey. Promote the sport, even if it requires that it move out from the umbrella of NDAHA and under NDHSAA. NDAHA has created a mess with players jumping all over to play, and can't maintain any continuity in jr.gold league integrity. All existing youth programs in the state need to retain their internal progression after Bantams.
Sorry! I'm just the canary in the mine.

IDEAS???

With the big towns adding teams (sheyanne, legacy) It would be pretty easy to let the small B schools form the class B Or call it "A" Like I said Minnesota does it right and they grow hockey!

Why is our neighbor to the east SOOO much better at hockey than us?? Because they give everyone a chance. Small schools can still play for the MN state Championship. They don't try to kill hockey they embrace history and small town hockey. They believe that a town of 800 can win the state championship. Granted not the AA Championship, but the A is possible. Kids skate their asses off on the outdoor rinks of their small town. And It shows at every home game , when they do their best for THEIR town. And when they lose they feel they let their town of 800 down. But the next day that town is still behind them 100% and they'll be at the next game cheering. That's MN Hockey. I hope ND can be like that some day. Sorry for the rant.
